I am writing to express my interest to apply for the assistant professor position in Biology starting this October, as advertised by the website of your department. I have earned my doctorate degree in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of Connecticut last year and I am currently working at the Microbiology Research Institute of Connecticut as researcher.

My fascination in teaching and research has been fostered by three years of undergraduate teaching and tutoring while I was at Connecticut. My previous teaching career involved discussions and laboratory procedures concerning molecular and cellular biology and introductory genetics. I have also mentored for summer laboratory courses about the basic principles and techniques in molecular biology during my stay at the university.

My experiences in graduate school help me build up professionalism and appreciation expected for a teaching environment. I am looking forward to become a part of your faculty with its strong respect in providing quality education.
