Subject: Apologies for the delay in project submission
Respected Sir,
I am writing this letter to apologize for not submitting the Xyz project on time. Though, I had undertaken the project on request and had committed to complete it on time. However, due to some urgent piece of work, I could not give enough time to it and surpassed the deadline. I am almost through with the work now and it should get completed by the end of this week.
I understand the importance of timely completion of work and have been submitting all my assignments on time. You are aware about my punctuality when comes to completing and submitting the projects. However, I really apologize for the delay this time and promise not to repeat this in future.
I hope you would understand my situation and pardon me for this delay.
